hi i'm austy & i'm a superficial space cadet

YAY FLORAL CROWNS! the one up there i made for myself to wear to prom and yeah it was pretty baller but then i lost it at a party (what gives!) and it was heartbreaking so i just HAD to replace it and went out and bought a bunch of flowers so i could make a few. cos you can never have enough floral crowns. BUT YEAH anyway I MADE A TUTORIAL TO GO WITH IT! can’t promise it’s the best but a lot of people wanted to see one:

so, floral crowns are like PRETTY RAD and everyone knows it. and they’re actually not all that hard to make!! now, this is just my method. i’m sure other methods exist, so don’t be afraid to look around! this is sort of a really experimental way that i just sorta stuck with.

alright, first off: WHAT YOU NEED!

image

FAKE FLOWERS! you can get these a lot of places i guess?? craft stores are usually p good hell even walmart has them. you’ll also need WIRE CUTTERS. or, if you’re a basic bitch metal as fuck like me and do with what you have, scissors will work. but you will seriously want proper wire cutters.

STEP ONE: CUT THE FLOWERS

image

these usually come in cute little bouquets so you wanna the stems right where they meet to separate them all. again, there’s a reason wire cutters are called wire cutter and a reason you aren’t supposed to use scissors. still, it works out in the end. it’s also up to you whether you want leaves or not. i like to keep them on a couple of the base flowers, but not too many in total. the leaves are easy to rip off if you change your mind on them later, so just play with those.

STEP TWO: BEND FLOWERS TOGETHER

image

pick two and bend the head together! i like to hook them like this over each other:

image

that’s what on would look like, but you wanna do them over each other. yes, these will probably fall apart, but it gets more stable as you go. you could twist them to make the more secure (you’d actually probably really like to, but i chose not to this time to see how it would work out—which it did still work out with simple hooking like this.)

image

so yeah, that’s how they end up. DO IT AGAIN WITH MORE STEMS!

image

he’ll yeah (i only have two pictured here, but i used three hook things)

NEST STEP: ATTACH THAT SHIT SOME MORE

image

since i had three similar things, i just hooked the ends together like i did the flowers!

image

this is like an alternate way that is basically flower-to-stem rather than flower-to-flower so yeah whatever way works?? just as long as you get a line of flowers

STEP CIRCLE: MAKE A CIRCLE

image

i lost track of the numbers idk but when it’s long enough to go around your head close the chain!! this is your BASE.

now what you are going to do is add more flowers!!!!! first of all bc then there are more flowers so it’s even more pretty, but this is also how you make it more stable!

STICK FLOWERS IN AND WRAP THE STEM AROUND THE BASE!

image

put a flower where you’d like (i like pulling the stem through a hole or place where other stems hook or meet to really tie them together!) place a flower pull it around twist twist twist yay.

now this is where i stopped taking picture cos i got engrossed in the HARDCORE ACTION. but basically you just!! keep sticking flowers in and twisting the stems around the other stems to keep them in places and add shape/strength through the crown! and you can position the flowers however you want—really use the stems to help get them in place where you’d like.

ANOTHER SPECIAL NOTE: these flowers can pop off the stems! now, this is a bit of a pain with them falling around… OR YOU COULD USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE! you can pull them off, weave their stem around easily, and put em back… or you could take flowers from a crowded section and put them in a more lonely part of your crown… just yeah don’t think of detached flowers as a bad thing.

i like to call this the bullshit method because it is a lot of bullshit. just placing flowers and twisting yada yada then it’ll start to come out! mine fell apart a couple of times—just reinforce it there! get another stem to stretch across two that won’t keep! and TADA.

image

you’ll end up with this sort of bullshit where you look like a garden or s/t which you might be going for idk but i wasn’t so this is where you REPOSITION THE FLOWERS SOME MORE! really you’ve got ALL THAT STEM IN THERE bend the flowers around it make them tight you can bend them around each other to keep it in place just FUCK W/ IT

image

still p lumpy but otherwise done!! just keep playing with it omg that’s the best i can tell you but yeah

close up images of the stems and shit:

image

image

like vines we intertwined um yeah it’ll probably start to look like a wreath but i mean who cares how it’s made up right it’s all about the LOOK. eventually it’ll come together

image

and there you have it. this one didn’t turn out as well as my old one but?? STILL LOOKS NICE ENOUGH.

um yeah i hope this helps!! i’m not all that great at making tutorials go ahead and look at other tutorials too!! or be like me and not look at those and actually just make it up as you go!! or draw multiple methods into one idk but really floral crowns are pretty great so it’s worth it
